The fish will approach the shrimp holding their body very still. The shrimp then wave their antennae showing that they’re willing to clean. The fish will usually change to a darker color, a signal to the shrimp that there are no bad intentions. The shrimp will clean inside the gills, mouth, and other hard-to-reach areas. The shrimp gets a meal, and the fish stays healthy. It’s a win-win-fin.
