The Difficult Bird Research Group is installing nests that automatically close at nighttime. This keeps the swift parrots safe from nocturnal sugar gliders. Tasmania is a small island seeing deforestation as a result of agriculture and logging. As deforestation worsens, swift parrots have fewer nesting trees. This exposes them to more sugar glider attacks.
