50,000 Pelicans Descend on Israel for a Free Lunch | Nat Geo Wild
These great white pelicans are stopping for a free lunch in Israel before continuing their migration to East Africa. Around 50,000 pelicans have flown over Israel this year alone. They have stopped at a central Israeli water reservoir for a quick bite to eat. The Israeli Agriculture Ministry has funded a program to feed the pelicans in an effort to protect local fisheries and breeding grounds from the hungry birds. The pelicans are fed six tons of fish, three to four times a week, for the three months that the pelicans fly over Israel. That’s a lot of fish! ➡ Subscribe: http://bit.ly/NatGeoWILDSubscribe About Nat Geo Wild: Welcome to a place so wild, anything can happen.
